Last updated: April 20266 min readGenerator Tools
Someone sent you a document and needs your signature. You are on your phone. You do not want to download an app, create an account, or print-sign-scan.
Open a browser, draw your signature with your finger, download the image, done.
On iPhone (Safari)
- Open the Signature Pad in Safari.
- Turn your phone sideways (sideways mode gives more canvas space).
- Draw your signature with your finger on the canvas.
- Tap Download PNG (transparent) or Download JPG (white background).
- The file saves to your Downloads in the Files app.
On Android (Chrome)
- Open the Signature Pad in Chrome.
- Rotate your phone sideways for more space.
- Draw your signature with your finger.
- Tap Download PNG or JPG.
- The file saves to your Downloads folder.
Phone vs. Computer for Signatures
| Phone (Touch) | Computer (Mouse) |
|---|
| Natural feel | ✓ Finger mimics pen | ~Mouse is less natural |
| Precision | Good (better with stylus) | ~Requires steady hand |
| Speed | ✓ Fast | ✓ Fast |
| Canvas size | Smaller screen | ✓ Larger canvas |
| Best tip | Use sideways mode | Draw slowly and steadily |
Most people prefer signing on a phone because the touchscreen feels more like paper. If you have an iPad or tablet with a stylus, that gives the best of both worlds — large canvas plus direct touch input.
After You Download: What to Do With It
- Email it: Attach the PNG/JPG to a reply. "See attached signature image."
- Insert into a document: Open the document in Google Docs, Word, or any editor and insert the image at the signature line.
- Sign a PDF: Use a PDF signing tool to place the image on the right page. Our PDF Signer handles this.
- Save for reuse: Keep the PNG in a "Signatures" folder so you do not have to redraw it every time.
Tips for Better Phone Signatures
- Horizontal mode: More horizontal space = more natural signing motion.
- Rest your hand on the table: Stabilize your wrist against a surface while signing for steadier strokes.
- Use your writing hand thumb or index finger: The finger you normally write with produces the most natural motion.
- Sign confidently: Quick, confident strokes look better than slow, hesitant ones. It is the same as signing on paper.
- Clear and retry: It takes 3 seconds to clear and try again. Do not settle for a bad attempt.
